The Battle is the LORD’s

In reading today in I Samuel 17 verse 45; when David faces the Giant Goliath, who was about nine and a half feet tall, said; “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.” and verse 47; “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear, for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

Today we are facing an enemy of enormous magnitude. The “Coronavirus”, which threatens lives, livelihoods, and financial stability of people and nations. This virus is easily transferable from person to person as it is about three times more contagious than the regular flu virus.

Thus far the medical community has not been able to find a medical cure or vaccine for the “coronavirus”, although they are working around the clock, and believe they are getting close to a cure. Our appreciation and prayers should go to those in the forefront of this battle, prayers for their health, for strength and wisdom.

As this virus spreads across this nation and the world man does what he is able to, to battle this deadly disease. These men and women, and all those who are first res-ponders and working necessity jobs are doing what they know and are able in this war against the unseen enemy.

When David went to battle against the nine and one half foot giant, who was wearing about 125 pounds of armor, he did what he was able to do. He took his staff, his sling and took five smooth stones for his sling. He went forward into battle knowing that the “battle was the LORD’S“. Today we face a foe much like the one David faced. Only David’s foe was a physical human being while we fight against a virus.

As believers we should know that even this battle, the one this nation is facing and that the world is facing is not winnable on our own. Why? You ask! Because this battle, and every battle we face is not won strictly by our mental and physical abilities. Just as David had to put the stone in the sling and take aim at his enemy, we must do what we physically are able to do. But we must remember; “that the Battle is the LORD’S“.

This nation has drifted far from it’s beginning, we now call evil good and good evil. As believers we must come before the LORD humbly, asking forgiveness for the sins of this nation and for our own sins. We must bow in reverential awe to the God of the universe. We must pray for the safety and deliverance from the virus to the LORD of armies. We must come before our Father in heaven in prayer in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For all things are in His hands. He holds the world together by the mighty power of His Word. Let us fall before His feet humbly asking for deliverance, not because we deserve it, but because we are His children and we are asking for His mercy and healing. Yet with all of this we must pray “Thy Will be Done!” For the LORD always does what is righteous and holy and correct no matter what we may think.

No matter what the LORD does we know as believers that “we are in His hands!’

Psalm 91 can give us peace and reassurance in times such as these. Verse 2 tells us; “He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust“, and verse 5 and 6; “Thou shalt not be afraid by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.”

As believers we know we can trust the Lord for we know that He has everything in His hand. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. We should have a peace during the uncertainty of the days.

Let us pray for ourselves and fellow believers that our hearts would have a spiritual awakening and for healing of our land and protection from the coronavirus. Let us also pray for our loved ones and those who do not know the Lord.

Politicians cannot solve the deep issues within our Country, for the foundations of this country are being shaken and there are those who wish to destroy this nation but there is still hope. The solution, the only solution for this country is if American returns to the Word of God! American was founded upon the Word of God, its morality and truths came from the Word of God. May we return again to the Truth of the Word of God for Psalm 33:12 tells us “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and in” 2 Chronicles 7:14; If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” And I Timothy 2:1 :First of all, then I urge that supplications, prayers, intersessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.”

While there is light we need to reclaim what we’ve lost and if God’s people will come together in PRAYER, the LORD will hear and be merciful and answer!
