Daily Devotionals-September 30th and October 1st 2021

January 21st

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:12

When God called the prophet Jonah to preach repentance to the wicked people of Nineveh, Jonah went the other way. After spending three terrifying days in the belly of a fish, Jonah agreed to go to Nineveh. When the people heard his call to repentance, they received the truth about their sin and turned to God. During these dark days that are upon us let us not run from what the Lord wants us to do, but instead follow the leading of the Spirit of God and who knows if perhaps some will turn to the Lord themselves, and even turn this country to the Lord as well.

“I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”

Psalm 18:1-2

“He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalm 62:6-8

What a blessing it is to know that to us who truly love God, the Lord Jesus Christ, that to us He is our Rock, and our refuge, and that we may with complete confidence call upon Him, knowing that He hears and will answer our prayers. We can trust Him at all times. His strength never fails. What a shame that the world hates the one who gave His life for them. Christ desires that all men come unto salvation, but alas most do not. But to us who have we may pour our hearts out to him and put our complete and trust in Him. Thankyou Father for your Son Jesus Christ. May your name be praised forever!

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb.”

Isa. 11:6

A wolf or lion will devour a lamb unless he is somehow changed. There are many vicious wolves and lions who are dangerous people in this world. But once they come to the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved, and the Holy Spirit indwells and controls them, they become safe to dwell with. They have a new heart, a heart of love and not hate and revenge and a seeking of their own way. That is the only way and then truly the wolf and the lamb shall lie down together. There is much call for unity in the world today. But the spirit of the ravenous beast desires only destruction. Without a changed heart it will always seek to destroy the lambs, and without a changed heart there can never be unity.

II Corinthians 6:14b;

“for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

Righteousness is the complete opposite of unrighteousness, just as light is the complete antithesis of darkness. The one always dispels the other. Only Christ can bring true fellowship and communion!

“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”

Isa. 6:1

Have you ever wondered, what is the future going to hold?” What awaits the family’s and children and grandchildren? We face a very uncertain future in this country. It’s new for us, for we have never seen our country this divided. Family’s hating one another. However in tumultuous times in Israel’s history, the prophet Isaiah had a vision. He saw the Lord, seated on His throne, high and lifted up and His robe filled the temple. In the midst of their fear and uncertainty God was exhorting Isaiah, the same as He is doing us today. Saying; “Don’t lose your focus! Fix your eyes on Me!” He is the God of power and might, He can do the impossible in our lives and in our country. What do we do? We trust the Lord and keep our eyes on Him, without Him there is no peace, no hope, no strength. So believer “Keep your eyes stayed on Him.”

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.

Isaiah 6:3

“No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.

John 1:18

“…Neither knoweth any man the Father, save the son, and he to whomsoever the son will reveal him.”

Matthew 11:27

Christ reveals God as a personal God, as a Being who sees, feels, knows, understands, and acts. Belief in the personality of God is absolutely necessary to true prayer. (Heb. 11:6)

Christ reveals God as a sovereign God (Matt. 19:26) “With God all things are possible.” God is sovereign over all laws; He can make them subservient to His will, and use them in answering the prayers of His children. He is not bound by any so-called unchangeable laws.

Christ revealed God as a Father (Luke 11:13). In every instance in the life of Christ whenever He addresses God in prayer it is always as Father. The fact of the fatherhood of God makes prayer possible. It would be unnatural for a father not to commune with his child.

“Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.”

Ephesians 4:19

We all have a choice in our lives. The Lord has given us each a free will, and with that will we either choose to live for sin or to live for God. If our choice is to live for sin, once that choice is made for sin , lust completely leads and rules the heart of that man or woman. The heart comes to a place where there are no longer feelings. The conscience becomes seared and insensitive to God’s Word and directions, and insensitive to feelings of others. It becomes a heart sold out to sin and lust, which now become the master and ruler of that life.

“(Herod) added yet, this above all, that he shut up John in prison.”

Luke 3:20

Our ledger of sin in our lives keeps growing like a bank account, and keeps increasing as we sin. At the same time our guilt and judgment increase also. As this increases God’s patience and mercy are strained until our wickedness reaches the place of the final ending-point of His mercy. Has America reached this point, or is God allowing the wickedness of some to continue and grow until final judgment comes. If you are unsaved don’t tempt God, He is a merciful God, but there comes a point where mercy ends and judgment begins. If you have never believed on the Lord Jesus Christ turn to Him now before you reach the point of no return, and the door of opportunity closes along with His mercy. For those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, keep in the word, stay close in prayer for the judgment of the wicked may otherwise spill over unto us.

“And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord His God…and He (God) heard his supplication…Then Manasseth knew that the Lord He was God.”

II Chron. 33:12,13

If we never had any problems in our lives. If our health was always great, if everybody loved us, if our finances overflowed with riches, if we never had any troubles than our faith in the Lord would be a weak faith, Problems, heartaches, ill health, hatred by others force us to fall to our knees and pray to our Lord. When God answers our prayers and shows us the way, He strengthens our faith, then we find goodness and joy from Him in our lives.

January 13

“I would have you wise unto that which is good and simple concerning evil.”

Romans 16:19

We should not be well informed on evil. For when we think on evil it stimulates our appetite for sin and pulls us away from the Lord. Think on the good, think on the Word of God, avoid evil thoughts and we will find peace in the midst of troubling times!

“The LORD said unto my LORD, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?”

Matthew 22:44

Christ took upon him human nature, and so became God manifested in the flesh; in this sense he is the Son of man and the Son of David. It behoves us above all things seriously to inquire, What think we of Christ? Is he altogether glorious in our eyes, and precious to our hearts? May Christ be our joy, our confidence, our all. May we daily be made more like to Him, and more devoted to his service.

“This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”

Psalm 34:6

This is a tremendous testimony for the LORD . What God did for David He is able and willing to do for us. There are many problems in the world and in our lives today, The Lord is willing to solve all of them not just some. How can this be when our minds are so confused and distracted by what is happening around us. The answer is almost too simple. Simply “Keep our eyes on Jesus.” Trust Him for there is no other which can give peace. Not peace of the world, but His peace. Rest in Him, read His word daily, commune with Him in prayer and give Him praise for He is worthy. And the peace of God will abide with you.

John 14:27:

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

“Wisdom crieth without, she uttereth her voice in the streets; she crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates; in the city she utterth her words, saying, How long ye simple ones will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Proverbs 1:20-22

It’s not easy being a Christian! We have been called of God to show love to everyone we come in contact with. We are even called to show love to those people that we will never come in contact with. There are no shortcuts we can take. Love is a matter of giving everything we are, all the time. That is not easy especially when things seem to go completely wrong. However, we have the Holy Spirit within to help us in these times. Praise God for His Spirit and for His Word which stabilizes our lives.
