Daily Devotionals-September 30th and October 1st 2021

December 23rd.

“She brought forth her first born son…A sword shall pierce through thine own soul.”

(Luke 2:7, 35).

What an honor to be the mother of our Lord! Mary was the representative of all womanhood, in fulfillment of Gen. 3:15 and I Timothy 2:13-15.  However, this honor carried with it much sorrow, for Jesus was born with the shadow of the cross over His manger. She just a young Jewish girl and Joseph a young Jewish man. In the eyes of the world they had little worth, but the Lord knew their heart and gave them the responsibility to care for His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Both obeyed without hesitation. Shouldn’t we obey His will for our lives just as eagerly and soberly as did they.

“There was no room for them in the Inn.”

Luke 4:27

Today there is no room for Jesus, not only in the Inn, but in Schools, Colleges, Government, the Military and even in some Churches.  Mary, a young Jewish girl gladly accepted the will of God the Father and yielded herself to becoming the mother of Jesus and the reproach with it. Today when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we also accept and bear His reproach.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:13-14

“Of His kingdom there shall be no end.” (Luke 1:33).

What a world of change we live in! There is nothing permanent in this life of ours on earth.  Today a good ruler, replaced by tomorrows despot.  Freedom today, slavery tomorrow.  What is firm beneath us, a foundation so secure crumbles beneath our feet.  But in Jesus Christ alone do we ever find lasting security.

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. “

I Corinthians 3:11

“Mine eyes have seen thy salvation. “

(Luke 2:20)

Seeing the babe  that was  born in  Bethlehem  was  to see  very  God in the  flesh. But it was  more than that,  for  to see  Him was to see salvation. It is He, and He alone, and He only, the Saviour of the world. So have you come to Christ yet, and in faith seen Him as your personal saviour? Why not commit your soul into His keeping for all eternity?”

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16
